Immortality
The quality of not being subject to death, to last forever, to be imperishable. What most religions offer — the hope of some kind of personal or general continuity, even after death.
Apart from reports of alleged miracles, no one has ever produced any evidence to support this conviction. However, it must be mentioned that, from time to time, some people have claimed to have experienced a condition very different to life as we know it, and have taken this to be a glimpse of a life to come.
On the subject of physical immortality, life spans increased almost 100% in the last one hundred years, due to advances in medical science. Scientific research of how we age and how to stop the aging process is ongoing at this very moment. Maybe the day that we will live, if not forever, but to 2, 3 or even more times the amount of years that we live now is coming sooner than we imagine.
